By Vittorio Norman There's a saying, a tactic known is a tactic blown. Tactics are generally meant to come off as original and a way to stand out from the herd. But there's a problem with that. They lose power if used by too many people. The only way to avoid this is to learn to be real and genuine in your interactions. Let's say you approach a group of women with the opener, "hi, how are you all doing?". They would never say, "we heard that from another guy". The same goes with, "so what are your plans later?". And furthermore, if you make small talk and then move on to talk to another group of people, you would never hear them say, "that guy talked to us and now he went to talk to some other people. He's acting like the cool social guy - I'm not falling for that." Think about that. Any "tactic" used, in order to always work, has to come from a genuine place. That's the only mindset that will save you as you get increasingly bogged down by tactics. And who cares if other people are doing the same thing. The last thing you want to do is set a precedent where you're trying to impress - in that case you better be able to keep it going, and have more game than your competition. And if you screw up once you're out! The best tactics are the ones that don't come across as tactics, and they have to be simple and straightforward. "So tell me something about you...I notice xyz about you", can work great. The tactic is: socialize and meet people - which is not really a tactic at all! Be genuine and don't try to impress. This is not easy to master but it is simple to understand. Start doing this and you'll have a head start.
